Ronna, M.Ed., OTR/L Occupational Therapist
I have a natural innate love and appreciation of children. Thus my adult professional career has been dedicated to enriching and contributing to their growth and development. As a pre-kindergarten teacher and a developmental specialist with Early Intervention, I was introduced to the field of occupational therapy: The general philosophy of using meaningful activity as the therapeutic medium to encourage growth, development, and/or rehabilitation; this resonated with my teaching approach. I have worked as a pediatric occupational therapist for the last 10 years, both within the school environment as well as in a pediatric clinical setting. I have extensive experience working with developmental delays due to autism, sensory processing disorder and specific learning disabilities. I have worked with children who have fine motor deficits due to low muscle tone and/or Down Syndrome. I have also worked with children who experience anxiety and/or emotional distress due to immature social skills. I have earned pediatric certification with Interactive Metronome. I pursue education credits in the field of Sensory Integration, Behavior Management, and Sensory Processing Disorder. This has strengthened my commitment to helping children be comfortable in their bodies and successful within their communities.
