Carla, B.S., OTR/L Occupational Therapist

Though I have worked with clients of all ages throughout my career as an occupational therapist, pediatric therapy has always been my specialty. For over 10 years I have had the pleasure of working with children ranging in age from newborns to adolescents. I believe it is important to work closely with the family and all other involved professionals in order for therapy to be successful. Also, treatment should be customized according to each child’s individual strengths and weaknesses. Their diagnoses have included neurological disorders, autism, sensory dysfunction, genetic disorders, learning disabilities, and delays in various areas of development. Over the years I have acquired specialized training in sensory integration, neurodevelopmental treatment, handwriting instruction, and use of Interactive Metronome. I strive to remain abreast of the latest research and treatment techniques through continuing education courses. My focus during therapy is not only to address the child’s needs, but also to create a relaxed environment in which children can learn as they play.
